Detection of Drug Residue

Detection of Drug Residue
Residue:
These are chemical substances which are not desire to present in meat or food or left over of any process.
These are use in Livestock or Poultry industry as
·         Theraputic purpose
·         Profilitic
·         Growth Promotor
·         Envirnment contamination
·         Fungal attach on grain
STOP:
This means Swab Test on Premises
Principle:
It is Biological Test for the present of inhibitors. If the tissue contain Antibiotic residue than fluid from tissue will inhibit the growth of sensitive Microorganism.
Material Required:
1.      Kidney Tissue
2.      Agar gel palate
3.      Cotton Swab
4.      Bacillus Subtillus micro org
5.      Incubator
Procedure:
Grow the strain of bacillus subtillus on Agar gell palate because it is highly sensitive to all antibiotics. Cotton swab saturated with kidney fluid. Saturated cotton swab placed on agar gel palate. Then incubate swab on agar gell palate for 16-18 hr for growth of microorganism. Then examine the plate for zone of inhibition near/around the swab
Advantages:
·         Very simple test
·         Highly accurate & tissue may be tested at the slaughtering plant.
Limitation:
·         we use only kidney tissue not other tissue.
FAST:
It means Fast Antimicrobial Screening Test.
Material Require:
1.      Agar gel palate
2.      Cotton Swab
3.      Incubator
4.      Kidney, Muscle or Liver
5.      Bacillus Megaterion
Procedure:
Grow bacteria on Agar gel palate or take a Pre-seeded Agar Gel Palate (AGP) on which bacteria grow already. Insert cotton swab into kidney tissue for 20-30 mint to absorb tissue fluid. Break the tips as cotton swab and place in the Agar Gel Palate (AGP). Incubate it at 44C then check the inhibition zone after 6hrs and18hrs. If no zone of inhibition after 6hrs then don’t check it again after 18hr.
Advantage:
·         It is a Fast test
·         It takes 6 hrs.
